It is with great sadness that we must relate the passing of

William Douglas (Doug) Roy, M.A.Sc., P.Eng.

on September 19th, 2022

Doug worked with MineTech for twenty five years, starting in 1997 as a new graduate from the Technical University of Nova Scotia. He was one of two partners in the company.

At TUNS, he was a Sexton Scholar, graduated with distinction, and was awarded the Centennial Scholarship Medal by the Mining Society of Nova Scotia for best all-round merit. He went on to receive a Masters of Applied Science in Geostatistical Resource Estimation from Dalhousie University.

At MineTech, he completed projects in resource estimation, mine design, and mineral exploration. His work covered the world, bringing him to five continents. He was a director of the Mining Association of Nova Scotia between 2005 and 2011.

He met the highest standards of professionalism to which an engineer is called. His work advanced the cause of safety and efficiency for all those touched by it.

Doug was a good friend, and will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with him and his family.

An obituary can be found, and messages of condolence can be left, at Dignity Memorial. Donations in his memory can be made to Hospice Halifax.
